Day two of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination was characterized by heavy rainfall in almost all parts of Nyeri County unlike yesterday where the weather was clear.
Exam managers had to brave the wet weather to collect the examination materials from various collection points to ensure they are delivered to examination centres on time.
Despite the heavy downpour, county commissioner, Yatich Kipkemei, assured that they had put in place all the necessary measures to ensure materials arrive in examination centres on time especially in areas prone to flooding such As Kieni Constituency.
He reported that no incident of exam malpractice had been experienced since the tests kicked off yesterday even as he guaranteed that they were up and about in ensuring delivery of a credible examination.
A total of 17, 300 candidates are sitting the three-day national examinations in some 505 centres in the county….
The cabinet secretary for foreign affairs, Dr Monicah Juma toured several schools in Mwingi in Kitui County, to inspect the progress of the KCPE examination which kicked off yesterday and now enters day two.
The CS further said that all measures have been put in place in all parts of the country where heavy rains have been witnessed to ensure the smooth running of the entire process, the measures include; a logistic arrangement to move the papers on time.
She eventually thanked the education officers; teachers and security officers who are doing a great job by making the exercise run properly.
