The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has declared a temporary traffic disruption within Nairobi city at the Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway A8 road, which is set to last for 16 days.
In a statement, KeNHA said the disruption is attributed to planned construction activities for a new pedestrian underpass, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 31, 2024, and conclude on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway,” read the statement in part.
“All Road This traffic disruption is due to scheduled sad works for construction of pedestrian underpass which will commence from Saturday, August 31, 2024, to Tuesday, October 15, 2024,” continued the statement.
To facilitate effective traffic management during this time, KeNHA has proposed alternative routes and urges motorists to comply with the designated diversion paths.
The alternative routes are outlined as follows:
- Vehicles heading from Upperhill to Waiyaki Way should divert at Greenpark.
- Vehicles traveling from Mombasa Road to Waiyaki Way should also take the diversion at Greenpark.
- Vehicles moving from Waiyaki Way to Mombasa Road should divert at Rubis Petrol Station.
- Vehicles proceeding from the Central Business District (CBD) to Mombasa Road may utilize the diversion at Rubis Petrol Station or the Ring Road behind Neno Evangelism Church.
KeNHA assures that traffic flow from the CBD to Upperhill and vice versa will remain uninterrupted.
Additionally, KeNHA requests that all motorists adhere to the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police and traffic marshals present to ensure a seamless traffic flow throughout the construction period.
