The Kenya National Highways Authority has acknowledged the ongoing discussion regarding the development of a Road Tolling Policy.
In a statement, KENHA expressed appreciation for the ongoing discussion around the development of a Road Tolling Policy.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority appreciates the ongoing discussion around the development of a Road Tolling Policy,” wrote KENHA on X.
The Authority has assured the public that the Policy will be developed with extensive public participation. This would ensure that all voices are heard and allow for a comprehensive representation of community perspectives.
“The Authority assures the public that this Policy will be developed with extensive public participation to ensure that all voices are heard,” the authority assured.
Upon completion, the Policy will delineate the specific roads subject to tolling.
Key routes proposed for consideration include the Nairobi Southern Bypass, the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway, the Thika Superhighway, the Kenol-Sagana-Marua Road, and the Mombasa Southern Bypass, as well as the Dongo Kundu Bypass, among others.
“Some of the critical roads that will be presented for consideration include the Nairobi Southern Bypass, Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway, Thika Superhighway, Kenol-Sagana-Marua Road, Mombasa Southern Bypass, Dongo Kundu Bypass, among others,” KENHA revealed.
KeNHA further reiterated its commitment to transparency and inclusivity throughout the initiative, emphasizing active engagement with the public at each phase.
“KeNHA remains committed to transparency and inclusivity throughout this process and will continue to engage with the public at every stage,” noted the authority.
This initiative could potentially impact the country’s economy by affecting transportation costs for businesses and consumers. However, it could also generate revenue that could be used for infrastructure development and maintenance.
