Kenya and Australia Sign Fresh Bilateral Agreement

On Tuesday, August 8th, 2022, respective officials of Kenya and Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The MOU commits to further developing friendship and widening cooperation & mutual contact between the two nations.

The MOU was signed by DG Amb. George Orina,  & His Excellency Ridwaan Jadwat. The areas of cooperation covered are trade, health, education, regional security, defense, counter-terrorism, food security, humanitarian assistance, environment & climate change, multilateral affairs, sports & tourism.

“We welcome today’s agreement with the Australian government. We look forward to continuing our work together, especially now more than ever as the world arena faces challenges like climate change, food insecurity, and conflict.”  DG Amb. George Orina.

H.E Luke Williams said that the inaugural Senior Officials talks demonstrate Australia’s importance in deepening its engagement with Kenya. “The signing of the MOU marks a significant milestone in the growth of our bilateral relations with Kenya.”

The discussions were intended to improve the two nations’ current bilateral ties. Trade and investment, mining, defense collaboration, immigration and visas, education, labor mobility, and diaspora are some of the areas of cooperation.
