Kenya has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, reached last night, as a major step toward restoring peace and normalcy in the region.

According to the Acting Interior and Foreign and Diaspora Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, the breakthrough is expected to ease tensions between Israel and Lebanon, fostering stability and creating opportunities for sustainable development across the Middle East.

“Kenya welcomes the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which was agreed last night. The ceasefire paves the way for restoring normalcy between the two neighboring countries of Israel and Lebanon, fostering stability and promoting peace and prosperity across the Middle East,” noted PCS Mudavadi.

Speaking on the ceasefire, the Kenyan government reiterated its call for leaders across the Middle East to embrace dialogue and prioritize peace.

“We call upon leaders across the Middle East to embrace dialogue and prioritize peace and stability in the region,” added Mudavadi.

Since the onset of the conflict, the Government of Kenya has prioritized the safety and well-being of its citizens in the region.

However, through coordinated efforts led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over 300 Kenyans have been successfully evacuated to safety, with no casualties reported among them.

The evacuation efforts remain ongoing to ensure the safety of all Kenyans in the region.

The government’s evacuation process has involved collaboration with international partners, Kenyan embassies, and local authorities to facilitate safe transit routes and provide critical support to citizens affected by the conflict.
