Kenya, Australia Strengthen to Explore New Phases in Mining, Agriculture, Trade

In a meeting earlier this morning, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Hon. Hassan Joho engaged with Hon. David Michael MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Western Australia to explore potential areas of cooperation in mining, agriculture, and trade.

These discussions aim to enhance skills, foster innovation, and strengthen trade ties between Kenya and Australia.

The talks focused on opportunities for knowledge sharing that could significantly boost Kenya’s mining sector.

“We discussed several potential areas of cooperation, including knowledge sharing, which can enhance the skill set for Kenyans in the mining sector,” said Joho.

Accompanying CS Hassan Joho, were the Kenyan High Commissioner to Australia, H.E. Amb Dr. Wilson Kogo, and Deputy Head of Mission Fred Eshikuta,

They emphasized the importance of such collaborations in driving sectoral growth.

In another meeting with the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth of Australia, Hon. Tim Watts MP, discussions centring the enhancement of trade cooperation between Australia and Kenya.

“Our discussions touched broadly on several areas that could enhance trade cooperation between Australia and Kenya, especially in the fields of horticulture, agricultural innovation, and research,” Joho shared.

These discussions are set to open doors for bilateral trade and technological advancements in agricultural research

These talks also highlighted Australia’s professional labour migration policy, which presents significant opportunities for Kenyan youth.

Hon. Tim Watts MP reiterated Australia’s commitment to providing equal employment opportunities, stating, “Australia’s robust professional labour migration policy provides equal employment opportunities to our youth.”

This policy is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two nations, particularly in the area of labour mobility.

These meetings signal a promising future for cooperation in mining, agriculture, and trade.

With a focus on knowledge sharing, innovation, and fair labour practices, both countries are set to benefit from these strengthened ties.
