At a high-level meeting in New York titled “Multilateralism Works: Leadership and Sustaining the HIV Response to 2030 and Beyond,” Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to global cooperation in combating HIV and AIDS.
As the current chair of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB), Kenya highlighted the power of multilateralism in driving transformative global partnerships that have significantly advanced the fight against the epidemic.
“As we celebrate the gains made in combating HIV and Aids, we must also acknowledge the power of multilateralism in fostering transformative global partnerships,” President Ruto said.
During the event, Kenya celebrated the strides made in addressing HIV and AIDS through collaboration with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
The nation emphasized how effective multilateralism has been crucial in resource mobilization, promoting the rights of people living with HIV, and ensuring inclusive support across the globe.
Kenya underscored the importance of sustained leadership and collective global action as the world approaches the 2030 target of ending the HIV epidemic.
“Effective multilateralism allowed us to engage with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and Aids, greatly enhancing our efforts in resource mobilisation, advocating the rights of people living with the infection and providing inclusive support,” added President Ruto.
In this context, Kenya continues to advocate for stronger partnerships, robust healthcare systems, and inclusive policies that protect the most vulnerable.
Through its leadership role, Kenya is committed to maintaining momentum in the global HIV response, ensuring no one is left behind in the quest for a world free from HIV and AIDS.
