Kenya Deepens Partnership with Toyota Tsusho to Drive E-Mobility Transition

Kenya has deepened its collaboration with Toyota Tsusho Corporation to enhance the country’s transport systems by introducing advanced private and public mobility solutions.

As the nation accelerates its transition to e-mobility, Kenya has vowed to partner with the car manufacturers to achieve e-mobility.

“As we increasingly transition to e-mobility, we will work with the car manufacturer and other partners as partners in our transition to provide e-mobility,”  stated President Ruto.

Speaking on the side-lines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), President William Ruto revealed that Kenya intends to acquire 5,000 e-mobility vehicles for use by police officers and National Government Administration officials.

“We intend to acquire 5,000 e-mobility vehicles for our police officers and National Government Administration officials,” noted the President.

“Consequently, we will expect our partners in e-mobility to increasingly  assembling e-vehicles in Kenya and eventually begin manufacturing,” added the President.

Also present at the meeting were Toyota Kenya officials, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s green mobility initiatives and enhancing local capacity through technology transfer and job creation.
