Kenya- Ethiopia Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Pursuit of Regional Progress

In a high-level meeting that underscored the deep-rooted relationship between Kenya and Ethiopia, H.E. Gedion Timothewos Hessebon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, paid a courtesy visit to his Kenyan counterpart for discussions on bilateral and multilateral collaboration.

The dialogue centred on critical areas of mutual interest, including peace, security, and regional integration.Moreover both leaders expressed their unwavering commitment to accelerating joint efforts aimed at strengthening ties.

“Our discussions touched on key areas of shared interest at both bilateral and multilateral levels, emphasizing peace, security, and regional integration. We are committed to fast-tracking our collaborative efforts to strengthen and expand the deep-rooted ties between our nations.,” stated the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

During the meeting, Kenya highlighted the significance of existing Memoranda of Understanding between the two nations, emphasizing their potential to boost trade and investment while promoting a unified approach to regional progress.

“Kenya and Ethiopia remain steadfast in advancing their partnership, leveraging existing Memoranda of Understanding to drive trade, foster investment, and promote a unified approach to regional progress and prosperity,” PCS noted.

“As we continue to champion our shared vision for Africa’s transformation, we remain committed to working hand in hand with all partners to realize the aspirations of Agenda 2063, “The Africa We Want,” Mudavadi added.

Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi used the opportunity to appeal for Ethiopia’s support for Raila Odinga who is vying for East African Community chairmanship.
