The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has fined the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) $50,000 (about KSh 6.5 million) for safety and security lapses during the CHAN PAMOJA 2024 match against Morocco at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
According to CAF’s official statement, the breaches occurred during the widely followed match, which took place on Sunday, 10 August 2025 and were in direct violation of the organisation’s safety and security regulations.
“Repeated failures to comply with CAF’s safety and security requirements may result in the relocation of Kenya’s future home matches to alternative venues, potentially outside the country,” the CAF Disciplinary Board warned.
CAF outlined specific measures FKF must implement to avoid similar incidents, including assigning more security personnel within the stadium perimeter and strictly enforcing road closures on match days.
These directives are aimed at improving crowd management, preventing unauthorised access, and ensuring the safety of players, officials, and supporters.
The fine comes as part of CAF’s broader effort to enforce higher safety standards across all its competitions.
CHAN PAMOJA 2024, which brings together top national teams from across the continent, has seen increased scrutiny on match-day operations to protect the integrity of the tournament and enhance the spectator experience.
This ruling serves as a warning to all participating federations that CAF will take firm action against any breach of its regulations.
The CAF Disciplinary Board has set a 60-day time frame for the fees to be paid.
