In a landmark move to bolster economic cooperation and innovation, H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi today joined H.E. President William Ruto in Berlin for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a pilot Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) initiative between the Federal State of Hamburg and the Government of Kenya.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Kenya and Germany.
The MoU, facilitated by the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation (FNF), outlines a framework for implementing the BPO pilot project in one of Kenya’s counties,an initiative aimed to leverage Kenya’s dynamic workforce and burgeoning tech ecosystem to create new economic opportunities, foster innovation, and enhance bilateral ties between the two nations.
“The project will be implemented in one of Kenya’s counties, furthering opportunities for mutual growth and collaboration,” noted the state department for foreign affairs.
The signing ceremony saw the MoU inked on behalf of Kenya by Ms. Roseline Njogu, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, and on behalf of the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation by Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Paqué.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to driving mutual growth and advancing digital transformation in both regions.
Speaking at the event, President William Ruto highlighted the importance of such international partnerships in unlocking new avenues for economic development.
He emphasized that the BPO pilot project would not only provide a platform for Kenya to showcase its capabilities in the outsourcing sector but also strengthen the economic ties between Kenya and Germany.
“Working together with Germany,we can combine the innovation creativity energy and talent of our young people with Germany investment technology and resources and provide for a win-win income,” said President Ruto.
The Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation, known for its commitment to promoting liberal democracy and economic freedom, views this partnership as a strategic initiative to support Kenya’s economic growth while also providing German businesses with access to a talented pool of professionals.
As the BPO pilot project moves forward, it is expected to serve as a model for future collaborations between Kenya and international partners, highlighting the country’s potential as a hub for outsourcing services in Africa.
