The International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) has awarded Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) a global standard accreditation certificate. This is after government made efforts in improving the procurement supply chain management system in Kenya.
IFPSM awarded KISM with an International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management award for “Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya examination syllabus” through its partners such as Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) examination centres.
Present during the event were IFPSM Chairman Cheryl Farrow, KISM Chairman Eng Chris Oanda, Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Education (Vocational and Technical Training) Dr Dinah Mwinzi and ICT Cabinet Secretary (CS) Joe Mucheru.
Both the PS and the CS congratulated KISM for attaining the global standards in procuring and supply chain management in accordance with the Kenya government’s requirements.
Mr Mucheru expressed his pleasure in presiding over an event where a locally developed “professional and national examination syllabus” received recognition through accreditation by a global body – IFPSM.
He said Kenyans have a right to education and that the Ministry of Education is developing policies and facilitating implementation of programmes that increase access to quality education as aligned to national and development goals. “Through this examination and certification programme, procurement now joins the long established professions such as Accounting, Law, Public Secretaries and others,” he said.
The CS stated that such initiatives fit well within the objectives of the Ministry of Education and ICT And will go a long way in creating a pool of qualified procurement professionals who will with higher levels of professionalism and integrity in our public and private sectors.
