Kenya to Strengthen Health services Via Global Health Partnership

Kenya’s partnership with the Global Fund has proven fundamental in addressing the three diseases that have caused global concern that is HIV, TB, and Malaria as well as enhancing the country’s health service delivery.

A meeting led by Dr. Debra Barasa the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Kenya concerning the prospect of the Global Fund with the intention of putting focus on the health service delivery in Kenya

“Our collaboration with the Global Fund has been instrumental in the progress we have made to address HIV, TB, and Malaria, while at the same time strengthening Kenya’s health service delivery,” CS Barasa stated.

The meeting was also attended by the Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni for Public Health and Professional Standards, Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai for Medical Services, and Dr. Patrick Amoth, Former President of the WHO Executive Board.

The delegation from the Global Fund present at the meeting included and was led by Mr. Linden Morrison, Head of Global Fund High Impact Africa 2, and Mr. Paul MacCarrick, Senior Portfolio Manager of the Fund.

The discussions focused primarily on key areas of partnership, including the delivery of Kenya’s universal health coverage (UHC) agenda, the establishment of primary healthcare networks, pandemic preparedness, the rollout of Social Health Insurance, and local manufacturing.

“I assured the Fund of my commitment to ensure that the funds are used effectively and for the intended purpose to improve health outcomes for Kenyans,” the health CS emphasized.

This partnership underlines Kenya’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and deliver on its UHC goals while still addressing global health challenges.

These efforts are believed to be a part of a broader strategy to deliver equitable healthcare and ensure that Kenya’s UHC goals are realized in the near future.
