Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, recently held productive discussions with the British High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Neil Wigan.

The high-level meeting underscored robust bilateral ties, reaffirming joint commitments to crucial development initiatives and regional stability.

“Central to our engagement was the Railway City Project, a key outcome of H.E. President William Ruto’s recent visit to the UK,” Prime CS Mudavadi stated in a post on his official X handle.

He further added, “We reaffirmed our commitment to expedite the remaining processes necessary for the commencement of the Central Railway Station—set to be the flagship development within the transformative Railway City initiative.”  The broader project itself is designed to modernize Nairobi’s central business district into a vital commercial and transportation hub.

High Commissioner Wigan has consistently championed the strategic importance of the Railway City Project and broader UK investments in Kenya’s green infrastructure.

Since taking office, he has publicly expressed enthusiasm for, “working with the Government of Kenya on the priorities of our Strategic Partnership,” including significant UK investment in clean, green infrastructure projects. This consistent stance reinforces the UK’s strong backing for such development discussed during the meeting.

Beyond infrastructure, discussions covered pressing matters of regional peace and security. Both officials exchanged views on the challenging situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and reviewed ongoing mediation efforts.

Kenya has a significant record of involvement in regional peace initiatives, including contributions to bodies like the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF), underscoring its commitment to critical stabilization efforts.

Prime CS Mudavadi underscored the deep partnership between Kenya and the United Kingdom, built on mutual interests and shared values. “Kenya and the UK remain steadfast partners, bound by shared values and mutual interests,” he affirmed in his social media update.

He concluded by emphasizing continued joint efforts to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties for the benefit of both citizens.
