The Kenya Water Towers Agency staff are to be redeployed following the dissolution in 2024.

“Upon the conclusion of the Kenya Water Towers Agency (KWTA) in December 2024, following the expiration of its mandate, all personnel will be reassigned to the Ministry and its affiliated agencies according to their skill sets,” said CS Duale

The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry said that a finalized list of placements will indicate that 68 employees will transition to the Environment and Climate Change department, whereas 45 will be assigned to the Forestry department.

“A finalized placement list will see 68 employees join the Environment and Climate Change department, while 45 will move to the Forestry department. The redeployment process considered qualifications, rank, experience and other factors such as age, disability and duty station,” CS Duale added.

CS Aden Duale urged the transitioning staff to uphold professionalism, integrity and good governance principles.

Founded in 2012 pursuant to Legal Notice No. 27, KWTA has been responsible for coordinating the protection and sustainable management of the water towers in Kenya.

The CS emphasized that Its dissolution follows the Cabinet’s rationalization of state corporations to eliminate overlapping mandates.

In the meeting the CS was joined by PS Dr. Eng. Festus Ng’eno (Environment & Climate Change) and Mr. Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry).
