Kenya and Germany have officially signed a Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement aimed at providing diverse pathways for Kenyans to work, train, and enhance their skills in both countries.
According to President William Ruto, the agreement marks a significant step forward in fostering labour mobility and cooperation between the two nations, opening new doors for qualified Kenyans to meet the growing labor demands in Germany.
The partnership was formalized with the support of the German Government, which recognizes the abundant talent and skills within Kenya’s labor force.
“We are looking forward to the implementation of the just signed Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement between Kenya and Germany. The agreement provides various pathways for Kenyans to work and train in Kenya and Germany,” stated President Ruto.
Kenya’s government has expressed its appreciation for the support extended by Germany, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in addressing the current labor market needs in both countries.
“Kenya greatly appreciates the support that has been extended by the German Government. We are fully cognizant of the Labour demands for Germany and the available talented and qualified Kenyan Labour supply,” the President noted.
In his statement, President William Ruto underscored Kenya’s commitment to maintaining high standards in labor migration and ensuring that Kenyan workers are treated fairly in Germany.
Furthermore, the government pledged to adhere to international best practices in labor migration, ensuring that the rights and welfare of Kenyan workers are prioritized.
“As a Government we are committed to ensuring that those in the Labour migration space are licensed, ethical and persons who will not take advantage of Kenyan job seekers. We will adhere to best international Labour migration practices,” President Ruto reiterated.
As implementation begins, the government remains focused on maximizing the benefits for both the Kenyan and German labor markets while safeguarding the interests of its citizens.
The deal signals a new chapter of international cooperation, with Kenya committed to leveraging this opportunity to bolster its economy and address global labor market challenges.
