The stage is set for the 86th edition of the Kenya Open Fullbore Shooting Championships, scheduled to take place from March 5 – 8, 2025, at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Rifle Range in Nanyuki.
As the countdown begins, elite marksmen from the National Police Service (NPS), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Chalbi, and the Kenya Regiment Rifle Club (KRRC) have been putting their skills to the test in a series of intense internal championships.
This year’s competition brings together seasoned veterans and rising stars in the fullbore shooting discipline, all vying for a chance to secure a spot in the international shooting arena.
The competition is expected to be fierce, with Kenya’s top snipers preparing to take on an elite team from the British Royal Army in a thrilling showcase of precision and skill.
Speaking during the final training sessions in Nanyuki, Head of the DCI Shooting Team, Mr. Anthony Muriithi, commended the participating teams for their dedication and discipline throughout the preparatory phase.
“The internal championships have been intense. Every competitor has been pushing the limits of their capabilities, preparing not just for victory, but also for the pride of our nation,” he remarked.
Since March 2, 2025, the teams have been engaged in rigorous internal competitions, battling for top honours in prestigious tournaments such as:
- The Drummond Trophy
- O. Roberts Trophy
- McCamull Cup
- The Standard Cup
These events have provided a platform for competitors to refine their skills and adapt to the high-pressure environment expected at the Kenya Open Championships.
With the final touches being made ahead of the tournament kick-off, anticipation is running high.
