Kenyan youths to get training as fishing fleets as Kenya exploits blue economy

Local youths are set to be trained as seafarers to work in fishing fleets. This even as the government turns its focus on the exploitation and conservation of the blue economy for growth. This according to the seafarers union of Kenya chairman Daudi Hajji.

Speaking at the Liwatoni Fisheries Complex in Mombasa when he received six fishing vessels with Chinese national flags chartered by a local investor hajji noted that the maritime sector has the potential to employ hundreds of local youth as seafarers but majority of them lack the requisite skills and know-how to enable them to grab the opportunities in the vast blue economy sector.
