The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai says that the health digitization is on track.
According to the Ministry of Health, the PS made the remarks during the opening of the Africa eHealth Leaders Forum, a crucial platform for advancing digital health across the continent.
“The forum underscores a collective commitment to leadership and governance, emphasizing foundational pillars essential for driving digital health forward in Africa,” the Ministry of Health wrote on X.
During the opening of the Africa eHealth Leaders Forum, the PS for Medical Services Mr. Kimtai emphasized the government’s achievements in digital initiatives.
“Mr. Kimtai highlighted the government’s achievements and dedication to digital health transformation through the Digital Health Act 2023, which established the Digital Health Agency and the Kenya Digital Health Superhighway,” MOH stated.
“These initiatives leverage technology to accelerate Kenya’s progress toward universal health coverage.”
The Ministry of Health also highlighted that Kenya has made significant strides in implementing the digital health superhighway, with key solutions currently 70% complete.
The Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni also said that the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) is set to enhance healthcare access across Kenya.
While speaking on a local television interview she updated the public on progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and discussed the transition from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Authority (SHA).
She also provided updates on Mpox, highlighting the government’s efforts to manage the disease.
