Kenyatta University holds requiem mass for two scholars who died during the Ethiopian airline plane crash

The Kenyatta University Fraternity Wednesday held an emotional requiem mass in the aftermath of the Ethiopian airline crash for two of Its scholars who perished On Sunday The 10th March.

Prof. Agnes M.W. Gathumbi and Dr. Isaac M. Mwangi were part of the passengers on the plane who perished on that fateful day.

The two were members of staff at the University, working in the Department of Education And Technology, School Of Education respectively.  Professor Gathumbi was also The Director, Center for Teacher Professional Development and Excellence.

Led by the Chancellor, Kenyatta University, Benson Wairegi, Deputy Vice Chancellor Gravenier Rio representing the Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Wainaina and Former Vice Chancellor Olive Mugenda relayed his condolences in the packed mass.

Students and Friends filled the Amphitheater in Kenyatta University to condole with the families.

They were eulogized as being trailblazers’ in innovations and developments in the education sector.

Family and friends mourned the deceased as being of noble character and church lovers.

The two will be buried in their respective homes in the coming week.

Six minutes after take-off, contact with Boeing was lost as it came rumbling down some 50 kilometers outside Addis Ababa killing 157people living friends and family members who lost their loved ones in the fateful incident with scars that can never be healed.

The crash has heightened concerns about the Boeing anti-stalling system which is also suspected of being a factor in last year’s October Indonesian crash that killed 189 people.
