The Kenyatta University Matriculation Ceremony 2024 was marked by inspiring words and wise counsel from the university’s leadership, welcoming the new cohort of students to a transformative academic journey.
Senior university officials, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC Academic) Prof. James Biu Kung’u, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) Prof. Nelson Wawire,Prof. Kivunge Registrar Academic and Chief Finance Officer Mr. Samuel Mwai, provided valuable guidance to the newly admitted students as they embarked on their higher education journey.
Prof. James Biu Kung’u, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), encouraged the students to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. He emphasized the importance of self-discipline and time management
“The journey you are about to begin will transform you,” Prof. Kung’u said.
As a University Student, you are your own time keeper, you are your own prefect and your own teacher on duty.No body will be there to wake you up, tell you to go to class, take your meals or even go to sleep.You must know how to manage your time.Spend your time wisely and enjoy the freedom but with caution.Alway remember freedom comes with responsibility,” Prof. Kung’u stated.
He encouraged the students to take full advantage of the resources and support systems provided by Kenyatta University to achieve their goals warning them of peer pressure.
“Budget your money well and live within your means.Don’t do things because others are doing it.Avoid bad companies, peer pressure can ruin you if you are not careful and always remember bad company destroys good morals,” Prof. Kung’u added.
Mr. Samuel Mwai, the Chief Finance Officer on his part, welcomed the new students warmly, expressing the university’s commitment to their success and well-being.
He assured them of the university’s support in helping them achieve their academic and personal aspirations.
“You are in the right place and are setting the stage for a journey of growth and opportunity,” stated Prof.Mwai.
Prof. Nelson Wawire, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance), further inspired the new cohort by affirming their potential to succeed.
“You can make it. If you want to be a professor like us you will, if you want to be an engineer you will, you are in the right University,” Prof.Wawire noted.
The matriculation ceremony signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the students, joining a vibrant community of scholars, researchers, and future leaders at Kenyatta University.
