The Kenya Film Classification board (KFCB) is determined to regulate broadcast content to ensure that what is disseminated to the public is in line with the law as well as national values.
This is according to Bishop Jackson Kosgei, the board chairman who has further emphasized that KFCB will be a custodian of cultural norms in the country. He has said that the board will strive to involve all stakeholders to come up with appropriate mechanisms for the regulation of un-regulated media content.
While speaking yesterday during the funeral ceremony of Caroline Ngima at Chaka Ranch in Nyeri county, he said moral erosion is instigated by un-regulated media content. He has called upon the public to support its efforts in eradicating content that contributes to raising political temperatures in the country.
The KFCB Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua who also attended the funeral remarked that the board is yet to issue a comprehensive statement to clearly clarify what it is doing to regulate and contain media content.
He further said that the board intends to partner with the media in order to disseminate correct information to the public for purposes of confidence building.
In order to do this, the board will regulate all media content, advertisements and by extension social media.
