Pupils of Kiboko Primary School in Kibwezi West Constituency, Makueni County will continue taking their studies in Mabati made structures which were elected 2014 as semi-permanent buildings as the construction of the new premises by Kenya Railways were underway.
Over 500 pupils who were ready to occupy the new structure which has already been completed were shocked when they were not allowed to enter their new classrooms.
Speaking to the press at the new school premises John Nzioka P.T.A chairman said it was sad as the pupils will continue taking their classes in the semi-permanent building despite the accomplishment of the new premises.
“I wonder and pity my pupils as they are not in this new premises”, he said.
Nzioka called upon those who are derailing the school progress from moving into the new premises.
The school treasure Nanguzi Mulonzi said they expected pupils to move from the semi-permanent structures to the new premises but all this was futile as there has not been a full board meeting to address the matter.
“Our B.O.G chairman has called some higher offices thus baring our pupils from getting into the new premises”, she added.
In an interview with the new premises contractor Joseph Mutaiti, feels there is more than what meets the eye thus the delay of pupils being accommodated in the semi-permanent structures.
“Community comes in, local politicians too as they demand kicks backs, allowances and also swindling funds from the contractors”, said Mutaiti.
The new structure can host 1,200- 1,500 pupils as it has 24 classrooms.
It is in records that the school was closed last year due to heavy downpour which left the semi-permanent structures being submerged in water.
