Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has ordered the immediate implementation of a 3-year transfer policy for cops.

According to the CS, the transfer policy applies to all police officers countrywide. In a statement issued by the CS via his X page, he noted, ” Beginning this morning, all Police Officers who have served in one station for more than three years will be transferred to eliminate conflict of interest, guard against internal sabotage, and enhance service delivery in the security sector.”

Kindiki emphasized that the government’s directive must be adhered to. He further stated that IG Japhet Koome and all other relevant parties have received clear instructions to ensure the unwavering implementation of the policy.

The CS was in Muyrang’a County, where he met with the County Security Team led by County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha for a briefing on the commencement of the nationwide operation.

The directive by the CS was part of the government’s plan to not only curb the manufacture, sale, consumption, and abuse of illicit liquor but also to severe personal and local interests between police officers and the communities they serve.

As per the CS, there are junior officers who, for seven to 15 years, have remained stationed in one location. These individuals have developed local interests, ventured into businesses in the area, and become integral parts of the local community.

“The Nationwide crackdown initiated by the Government to combat the manufacture, sale, consumption, and abuse of illicit liquor and narcotic drugs is a timeless operation that will be conducted until the menace is conclusively dealt with,” read the statement in part.

The CS assured that unlike previous operations, which were hindered by conflicting political and commercial interests, the current endeavour is solely a security operation aimed at addressing a national threat and is free from political influences.
