KISII DEPUTY GOVERNOR RECEIVES COVID-19 VACCINATION

Kisii Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi has received vaccination  against covid-19  to demonstrate to the residents  that the ‘Astrazeneca’ jab  was safe and effective.

The move came amid rumours that beneficiaries of the vaccine had developed cold feet towards embracing the protection against the pandemic.

Stressing on the urgent need to be inoculated, Maangi who spoke at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital  remarked  in some countries abroad non-vaccinated travelers against coronavirus were denied entry.

The DG appealed to the residents who qualified for the immunization to come forward and receive it as a sign that they supported  President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call to do so.

Maangi said he had agreed with  governor James Ongwae that they will lead by example by going in for the exercise rolled out in the area last week.

County director of Public Health Services, Dr. Richard Onkware, who was among the first senior civil servants to be inoculated, dismissed myths shrouding the vaccination.

According to him, no complaints had been recorded on the vaccine’s adverse side-effects from those immunized, explaining  any as normal  body reactions to it.

Uncertainty  continued to haunt the Astrazeneca type of vaccine globally with some countries withholding its administration for  fear that it caused  blood clot conditions in some beneficiaries.
