Kitui assembly health committee has conducted inspection of the main hospitals within that county following the public outcry that the hospitals were in bad state.The committee visited Kitui and Mwingi referral hospitals to check whether the locals were getting the services well.Most of the patients who visited the county hospitals were been referred to seek services from private hospitals as well as buying the drugs from the chemistry.
The x-rays ,ultra sound and CT scan machines either were not working due to lack of print out stationary.
The hospitals also lacked enough oxygen and didn’t have substantive ICU to nurse the Covid 19 patients.
According to the chairman of the health committee Philip Nguli he said they were very disappointed with the bad situation they found despite allocating a very huge budget to the ministry.Nguli said they were to prepare a report and dig deeper to know where the health funds have gone.
