KU Launches Teacher Professional Assessors and Administrators Training

Lecturers from across various departments at Kenyatta University come together to launch the Teacher Professional Assessors and Administrators Training on the Online CBA TP Tool.

This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and accuracy in Competency-Based Assessment for teacher education.

Their dedication to upskilling reflects a strong commitment to quality teacher education and assessment.

The session was officially opened by KU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wainaina.

Dr. Miheso O’Connor, Chairperson of the Communication and Technology Department, emphasized the transformative role of technology in education.

She noted that advancements in digital tools are especially impactful in student assessments, offering not only efficiency but also meaningful insights that support growth and learning.

“This platform will shape the growth of both students and teachers. It ensures accuracy and provides insightful summaries and lessons,” stated Dr. Caroline Mutwiri, Director, TPDEX.

The Online CBA TP Tool is set to transform how KU assess and supports its students’ teaching development.

“We lead, others follow. We are here to support our students. This system will ensure that we support our students efficiently,” added Prof. Samson Ondigi, Executive Dean, School of Education and Lifelong Learning.

His words highlight the commitment to excellence and the role of the Online CBA TP Tool in providing effective support for our students’ academic journey.

“We are implementing technology to assist us in many of our processes, enabling us to stay interconnected with the world’s advancements in teaching, learning, and the overall training of our students,” said Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

Her insights underline the importance of embracing technological tools like the Online CBA TP Tool to enhance education and keep pace with global trends in teaching and student development.

“We must change with the times, and our relentless evolution keeps us ahead of the curve. Today, we proudly have over 2000 students in Teaching Practice and job shadowing/observation, all driving us towards greater excellence,” noted Prof. Paul Wainaina, Vice Chancellor
