KUPPET UNION DECRY TEACHERS SECURITY, HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME AND PROMOTION

Kenya Union of post primary education teachers has castigated right crusader bodies for not condemning attacks by students to teachers.

Speaking yesterday at St. Mary Ack church at Kenol town in Murang’a county where they joined Christians for a church service, a union team dubbed Team Change, and those eyeing various position in incoming union elections said they were surprised how those bodies kept mum over the issue yet if it was vice versa it would have been condemned all through.

Dominic Gitau Ndung’u, a teacher at Karega Day and Mixed secondary school in Kigumo, who is eyeing the Murang’a county branch Executive secretary cried foul that even the current KUPPET officials have not addressed the issue wondering who will defend rights of teachers.

Gitau said their team will ensure teachers’ rights are adhered to noting that this time round they will ensured every category of teachers starting with youths, women gender and teachers with special needs are elected.

The executive secretary aspirant too decried teachers health scheme been shallow calling for a better scheme. He says they are charged a lot of money to cater for two health insurance cards arguing they should have one major card to cater for the same and enjoy fully the value of their money.

Stella Gakii a teacher at Rwegetha secondary school in Gatanga, is eyeing a seat of representing teachers with special needs and she decry those teachers are not given equal opportunities when it comes to employment.

Lastly the group has encouraged young teachers to vie for the union positions and represent young teachers in the fraternity.
