Lamborghini unveil brand new car

If you love hitting the streets in style and in all manners, an entry that will leave pedestrians wagging then you need to give a look at this brand new fuel guzzler.

Lamborghini has been subject to some criticism of late for producing cars that some belief lack the flair and bonkers excitement for which the brand is famed.

Called the Centenario Roadster, V12 hyper-car that costs close to £2million, it’s got more power than some NASA projects and outrageous looks that could see the charging bull taking pride of place on teenagers’ bedroom walls again.

Showcased for the first time at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week in California, the guzzler features the 6.5-litre 760bhp V12 naturally-aspirated engine – the same lump that powers the Aventador.

What we are slightly more dubious about, though, is chief executive Stefano Domenicali’s description of the car. He said: ‘Lamborghini prides itself on the relentless pursuit of experimentation.

‘We are proud to unleash Centenario’s further potential in the form of a classic roadster; the perfect harmony between innovation and timeless design.’

‘This unique engineering achievement is a befitting tribute to Lamborghini’s extraordinary past and a preview of its brilliant future,’ he continued.

‘Centenario Roadster embraces the cutting edge characteristics of its coupé sibling and embraces the freedom of a true open-top super sports car for a pure drive experience.’

When not driving in a straight line, Lamborghini’s new rear-wheel-steering system is said to reduce the turning circle while stabilizing high-speed handling. The system’s effect also changes according to the driver’s selection of Strada, Sport, and Corsa driving modes, which also control powertrain behavior, stability control, steering effort, and more.

Lamborghini plans to build 40 Centenarios, split evenly between coupes and roadsters, and the maker says all were sold before the car was publicly shown. We suspect none of its customers blinked an eye at the car’s pre-tax price of €1.75 million, or a tick over $1.9 million at today’s exchange rate. Deliveries begin this fall and will continue into 2017.
