LEADERS CALL FOR OPENING UP OF NGINYANG THE LARGEST LIVESTOCK MARKET IN THE COUNTRY

With months of security operation and covid 19 which led to closure of Nginyang livestock market which is one of the largest in the country attracting livestock buyers as far as Nairobi and Kisumu has been opened today.

Nginyang market is a source of livelihood to Tiaty residents who entirely depend on livestock had suffered for lack of market for their livestock making them go without food and fees for their children.

Speaking while presiding over the opening of the market Tiaty Mp William Kamket said the opening up of the market has become a sigh of releif to residents who had suffered the adverse effects of covid 19 and security oparation after series of insecurity in Tiaty and Kapedo.Kamket urged to Goverment to open up roadblocks erected to ease transport of goods to and out of Tiaty,Sentiments echoed by Baringo Women mp Gladwel cheruiyot.

Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis said Nginyang market was a big source of revenue to the county and the closure of the market had affected revenue collection.

Locals welcomed the move saying they had been affected by not selling their livestock as others had to die owing to drought.They also said the market will enable them buy food since they had to depend only of livestock as source of food.
