Following the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, the former Prime Minister, leaders have poured in their tributes for celebrating Odinga’s life.

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki in his condolocence messag he described Odinga as a patriotic Kenyan who dedicatd himself for the country.
“A patriotic and distinguished son of Kenya, Raila Odinga believed that it is better for us to have an imperfect country struggling to perfect its value and institutional systems than to have no country at all,” stated the DP.
“His illustrious political career spanning decades is the most remarkable example of wit, energy, acumen and ability to make complex decisions rapidly,”
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi hailed the former Prime Minister as a patriot and revolutionary leader who embodied Kenya’s struggle for justice, equity, and unity.
“Today, our nation mourns the passing of a towering statesman, a gallant fighter for democracy, and a son of Kenya whose life was defined by courage, conviction, and an unyielding love for his country, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga,” Mudavadi stated.
“Raila was the pre-eminent statesman of Kenya, who sacrificed personal ambition for the nation, not once, not twice, but time and again. Whenever the soul of our nation stood on the brink of disintegration, he recalibrated his political path to safeguard its unity,” noted Mudavadi.
He reflected on their shared political journey, recalling moments of collaboration and competition that were always grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to the ideals of a free, just, and prosperous Kenya.
National assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula described him as a father of democracy highlighting Odinga’s role in making the 2010 constitution.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, an enigma, a father of democracy, and a towering statesman whose courage, resilience, and vision forever shaped the course of our nation’s history,” stated Wetang’ula.
“His relentless pursuit of reform found enduring expression in the making of the 2010 Constitution, a transformative charter that remains the backbone of our democracy,” Wetang’ula added.
As a five-time presidential candidate, Raila embodied the hopes and aspirations of millions, always placing the interests of the nation above personal ambition.
In a statement, People’s Liberation Party Leader Martha Karua on her statements she described the Former Prime Minister as a testament to courage.
“I will remember him as a fearless defender of the people, a voice of the voiceless and a steadfast comrade in the fight for the second liberation,” she stated.
“As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a legacy that will never fade. We celebrate a man that gave everything for His country. A fierce champion for the people. A man of incredible, undeniable influence. Words fail me because truly no words possibly do justice to the man that was Baba Raila Amolo Odinga,” stated Babu Owino.
Raila’s pivotal role in the fight for multiparty democracy, the making of the 2010 Constitution, and his acts of unity notably the Handshake with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and later engagements with President William Ruto were cited as powerful symbols of his belief in reconciliation and national cohesion
