Leopards horribly lose to Homeboyz as Gor draw with Rangers

Ingwe suffered another humiliating defeat after going down 4-1 to Kakamega Homeboyz in a league match on Sunday when the two teams took to the same pitch and by the end of first half, Ivan Minnaert had witnessed four goals past keeper Ian Otieno.

The match started on a high note for AFC Leopards winning a corner-kick in the 2nd minute but it was Andrew Kulecho who made use of the napping defense to drill in a powerful shot for the hosts’ opener.

AFC Leopards did not hold back, they tried to pile more pressure in search of an equalizer but all their efforts failed with Kakamega Homeboyz’ second goal coming in the 14th minute courtesy of Sunday Mutuku

Andrew Murunga warmed up for his turn with a few passes and confirmed his name on the score-sheet at the stroke of the 28th minute from a well taken free-kick causing uproar amongst AFC Leopards fans, who were already feeling disappointed by the show.

Minnaert immediately introduced Kepha Aswani to salvage the situation. Interestingly, Aswani never disappointed as he managed to pull one back on the 44th minute making it 3-1.

However, pressure was still hovering on AFC Leopards and the tension saw them concede another goal at the stroke of 45th minute when defender Eugene Ambulwa shot past his own keeper to make it 4-1 by half-time.

Gor held

On the other hand and for the third consecutive time, Gor Mahia were once again held to a draw, this time by Posta Rangers. K’Ogalo came into the match knowing three points will put them closer to rivals Tusker FC, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Western Stima on Saturday, with Posta Rangers aiming for their first win in the second leg.

In the first half it was Gor Mahia offensive players against Atudo, who was solid to stop attacks from his side. The closest Rangers came was a free-kick just outside the area which was taken by Atudo after Collins Nettoh had been fouled by Erick Ouma.

Despite attacking and pinning the hosts to their own half, it still remained goalless after the end of 45 minutes.

The thrilling match however ended up in a barren draw with both teams failing to convert the golden chances they had.

Tusker lead the table with 29 points followed closely by Ulinzi stars and Mathare United with 27 points while Gor mahia come fourth with 26 points with Posta rangers closing the list of top five with 25 points.
