Lt. General Robert Kariuki Kibochi sworn in as the new army commander

Yesterday, the newly appointed Kenya Army Commander, Lt. General Robert Kariuki Kibochi was sworn into office in a ceremony that was conducted by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua.

President Kenyatta who attend the ceremony congratulated Lt. General Kibochi on his appointment as the new Kenya Army Commander promising him government support.

“As I congratulate you, I ask you to continue in that well-treaded path of commitment and dedicated service to the nation, to continue to work in support of the men and women who will be under you,” President Kenyatta told the new Army Commander.

“As you start on your new position, count on our support, count on our commitment and count on the fact that every single Kenyan appreciate what the Kenya Defence Forces do to keep the country safe every single day,” Uhuru added.

“As a country, we are proud of you. As a nation, we continue to encourage you and as an administration, I give you my word that we shall continue to give every support to enable you to perform your duties,” the President said congratulating Kenya Defense Forces for their good work.

Until his appointment, Lt-Gen Kibochi was the assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of operations, doctrine and training at military headquarters.

He replaced Lt-Gen Leonard Ngondi, who was posted to the National Defence College as Commandant. The new Army Commander’s deputy will be Maj-Gen Walter Koipaton, who was promoted from the rank of brigadier.
