Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has pledged to[F1] empower jua kali traders and boda boda operators in the county through loans, grants and tenders to help boost their businesses.
Speaking when he met Chebkube market traders and boda boda operators in Kamukuywa on Wednesday, Lusaka called on traders to form Sacco’s which enable them access credit to better their lives.
“The county government understands the great role the traders play and we will support you financially so that you can transform your lives,” he said.
Lusaka also promised to follow up the construction of Chebkube market stalls to help traders get a conducive environment in which to operate their businesses.
“I will visit Chebkube market in the next two weeks to get the views of traders and the challenges they are facing,” he added.
He noted that the two groups go through hard times while fending for themselves and added they needed empowerment to boost their businesses.
