Cloud of sympathy and mourning engulfed Machakos County offices following the death of close to five people in a road accident today, Tuesday 13.
Machakos AP officers and two county askaris died in a road accident in Lukenya area morning.
They were traveling on Nairobi-Mombasa road when their county car, a Nissan Tiida, collided head-on with a Toyota Prado.
The driver of the Prado was taken to Mater Hospital in critical condition, said Athi River OCPD Sharmah Wario.
Athi River Police Chief Shama Wario said the First Lady’s escort was returning back to Machakos after dropping her in Mlolongo when the accident occurred.
Bodies of the four were taken to Shalom Hospital mortuary in Athi River.
Wario cautioned drivers to be careful while approaching Lukenya area, saying it is a black spot.
“So many lives have been lost in this area through accidents. I want to caution drivers as they approach this stretch,” he said.
