Mali sends starlets packing, beats Kenya women 3-1

Harambee starlets saw their second painful defeat in the hands of Malians, as the Mali women National team thrashed starlets 3-1.

Ghana and Nigeria settled for a 1-1 draw in their second match in Limbe with Nigeria toping the group after well earned four points par with Ghana but the Super Falcons have a superior goal-difference.

But with only 15 miutes into the game, Bassira Toure doubled Mali’s lead with a neat finish putting dents on starlets hopes of making it to quaters.

The game went from worse to worst when starlets conceded a penalty after Wendy Achieng fouled Bassira Toure inside the area and the referee. Comfortably, Bassira steps forward and buried the ball into the net to stretch Mali’s lead to 3-0.

Starlets consolation goal was  scored in 76 minute by Cheris Avilia hands following Akida’s pass. With 26 minutes remaining, the Starlets tried to fight back but Mali beauties could not let them grab another goal.
