MALKIA STRIKERS MEDIA BRIEFING AHEAD OF TEAM KENYA DEPARTURE TO KURUME CITY

Malkia Strikers have today, Tuesday 6th July 2021 at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani held a virtual media briefing, ahead of their departure to Kurume City for pre-Olympics training camp.

The 12-member team representing Kenya named on 25th June 2021 is; Mercy Moim, Noel murambi, Pamela Jepkirui, Leanida Kasaya, Edith Mukuvilani, Lorine Chebet, Gladys Ekaru, Sharon chepchumba, Emmaculate Chemtai, Jane Wacu, Joy Lusenaka and Agripna Kundu.

Media houses have had an opportunity to interact with the team representatives; the captain, Mercy Moim, player, Jane Wacu, head coach, Paul Bitok and a representative of the Brazilian tacticians.

Coach Bitok in the briefing asked Malkia fans to trust in the selection process, “Power maturity and position accuracy has gradually improved with time and we have used the machines now available to us, without bias, courtesy of the Brazilian tacticians to filter the team to players with the highest scores in every category.”

Malkia player, Jane Wacu who has been playing in the National team for sixteen years commented, “It is an honor and a great opportunity to finally represent Kenya in the Olympics. We have come a long way, putting in the work and changing our tactics for better scoring.”

The team are scheduled to leave for pre-training camp on Thursday, 8th of July 2021 and later leave the camp on the 19th of July to the Olympic village.

The media briefing comes as Team Kenya to the Tokyo Olympic Games commence their departure today, from Nairobi, Kenya to Fukuoka, Kurume City.
