Mbeere Sub-County league to kick off this Month.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Lower Eastern branch has crafted an eight-team league that is set to kick off next month in efforts to strengthen football at the grassroots,

“Starting this league will help rehabilitate the youth who are using drugs and those who are unemployed by engaging them in more constructive activities,” said Mboya.

Joshua Mboya who is the Mbeere Sub County chairman said that the league is in line with the introduction of Sub County leagues by FKF.

He also noted that each ward I Mbeere Sub County will have a team to represent them in the league.

“Mbeere Sub-County has eight wards including: Ishiara, Muminji, Kiambere, Mavuria, Mbeti, Makima, Karaba and Nthawa. Every Ward will have a team to represent them in the league,” Mboya added.

The league will have no age group limit, it will be open to everybody as this will help nurture talent and creating inclusive teams that will play at the provincial and regional tournaments.

In order to hold professional soccer event in the grass root, the players, coaches and referees will undergo a league course before the fixtures are released on May 20th.

The basic rules will apply and matches will be played on home and away grounds and winners determined on merit basis, just like in the normal leagues.

There will be no relegation of any team until structures are developed but the two top teams will be promoted to Lower Eastern Provincial League.

“Since the league will be the first ever in this area, no teams will be relegated from the league until structures are formed to strengthen it. The top two teams will be promoted to Lower Eastern Provincial League,” added Mboya.
