Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on Wednesday officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
In a presser held by the party at the UDA headquarters in Nairobi, the governor expressed her enthusiasm for joining the party indicating that it was God’s will. She noted that in 2017, she had been elected as a woman representative as an independent candidate and also elected governor in 2022 as an independent candidate.
” People have been asking for direction concerning the 2027 election, today, I have come to tell the people of Meru this is the direction and UDA is the party. I will throw a big party in Meru when I return.” Stated the governor.
” It is no longer a secret, there is nothing to hide about it, in 2027 I will be a UDA candidate.” She stated. She expressed her gratitude to the party leader William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua for extending the invitation to their party.
Mwangaza urged the MCAs in Meru County to collaborate with her in advancing the development of their county. She referenced the impeachment attempts by some members of the county assembly, suggesting that the conflicts between them would not serve the interests of Meru County.
She received a warm welcome from the UDA chair, Cecily Mbarire, who encouraged all politicians in Meru County and the Meru MCAs to initiate dialogues to foster unity and collaboration.
