Mombasa Detectives Make Major Arrests In Crackdown On Rising Crime

In a decisive action against a recent surge in criminal activities in Mombasa and the surrounding areas, Mombasa Urban detectives have made significant headway with the arrest of three key suspects who are believed to be the masterminds behind the crime wave.

The operation, sparked by a tip-off, led to the capture of individuals believed to be central figures in the ongoing crime activities.

“In response to a surge in criminal activities in Mombasa town and its vicinity, detectives from Mombasa Urban have made significant progress by arresting three key suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the crime wave,”  DCI stated.

The operation commenced with a strategic ambush in Nyali estate on Links Road, resulting in the apprehension of two prime suspects, Ali Ahmad Ali, alias “Mkali,” and Abdulrahman Arafat.

Following their arrest, the suspects provided crucial information that led officers to their hideout near Allidina Visram High School.

“Acting on intelligence, detectives orchestrated an ambush in Nyali estate on Links Road, resulting in the swift apprehension of two suspects, Ali Ahmad Ali, known by the alias “Mkali,” and Abdulrahman Arafat. Following interrogation, they led officers to their rented house near Allidina Visram High School,” noted the DCI.

At the suspects’ residence, detectives uncovered Mohamed Zulf, an additional accomplice, and a cache of incriminating evidence.

A meticulous search of the premises yielded a range of items, including four pangas, two Y-6 twisted metal bars with sharpened edges among others.

“In their hideout, officers discovered another accomplice, Mohamed Zulf. A thorough search of the premises yielded four pangas, two Y-6 twisted metal bars sharpened at the edges, eighteen small bales of bhang, ten assorted suspected stolen mobile phones, six spotlights, four suspected stolen livestock (sheep), one 32-inch TV, and one gas cylinder,” outlined the DCI.

The suspects were taken to Mombasa Central Police Station for processing and are awaiting arraignment.
