Mombasa governor Abdhulswamad Nassir has announced a number of drastic changes aimed at streamlining revenue collection in the County.
In a press briefing at his office today Nassir announced that all inspectorate officers deployed in Cess collection points, markets and the parking units will be redeployed to carryout traffic and security enhancement duties.
Mombasa governor said in their place the county will deploy revenue enhancement officers to oversee the revenue collection of the County.
Nassir said the drastic changes were part of the rapid response initiative that he announced he will take in the first 100 days in office. The governor also announced beginning next week the Kongowea market will adopt a 24 hour operating system.
He said that plans have been made to ensure security lights and CCTV cameras have been installed adding that they will work with the police and deploy more inspectorate officers to beef up security.
He also announced that he will be embarking on human resource audit of all the county personnel.
Meanwhile Mombasa deputy governor Francis Thoya has assured the residents of Mombasa that all illegal dumpsites will be closed within the next three months and relocation of garbage collection centres done to address the garbage menace in the port city.
Thoya who is in charge of ensuring Mombasa is cleaned up within the next 100 days said trucks will be stationed at designated sites in all the 30 wards. He stated that the county government will engage in public participation to ensure that the public and all waste collectors are fully aware of the new changes.
