Most matatus stalled in garages as crackdown enters day two

With the matatu crack down on its second day, most matatu operators were in garages fixing their vehicles to comply with implementation of Michuki rules.

Some operators registered their displeasure with the rules saying the government has not clearly shown a set guide for how things should be donw. for the instance, the yellow lines in public service vehicles (PSV) has been a cause of confusion as many were returned  for allegedly not painting well.

Esborn Anunda lamented complying but the traffic offers arrested him nonetheless saying the line was not according to the regulations forcing him to go back to the garage.

In what seemed to be a harvest time for garage owners ,Fredrick Otieno a painter said he has reaped big after the government ordered the resurgence of the famous Michuki rules urging the government not to relent.

A spot check done along Kabarnet -Nakuru highway showed road blocks erected to arrest those who have not complied with rules with private vehicles also not being left out. Few PSVs had complied with the rules with passengers being forced to wait for hours to get vehicles.

Baringo Women Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot said the government should be more stiffer in the rules saying the country has lost many people through road accidents which are avoidable urging motorists to comply with the rules.
