A mother was arraigned in court accused of sexually abusing her three and five-year-old daughters but she claimed that she was she was honoring directives of her ‘violent’ ex-partner, who was also the children’s father.
The mother had plead not guilty to six counts of indecently dealing with a child and one count of rape despite being the person to bring the abuse to the attention of police.
According to Mail Online, the mother left the abusive relationship and moved from the Sunshine Coast to Townsville in June 2013.
The woman narrated to the police about the abuse her children suffered on October, same year, after she became concerned about the father having unsupervised visits, the Townsville Bulletin reports.
Crown prosecutor Skye Jerome told the Townsville District Court how the mother outlined three occasions where she and the children’s father sexually abused their children.
‘She (the mother) says she doubts the children would recall any of the acts because she made it as unfamiliar as possible for the children … trying to distance them, no lights on, they were half asleep,’ Ms Jerome said.
Ms Jerome said in one of the alleged attacks the mother cupped her daughter’s face as the man, the child’s father, abused her.
She then pretended to give oral sex to the young child under the direction of her partner, according to a statement she gave police.
The mother was charged at the time she gave her statement to police. The young girls, who will not be giving evidence at the trial, spoke with police.
