MP John Waluke Dismisses Gen Z Demonstrations

Sirisia Member of Parliament, John Waluke, has expressed his disapproval of the ongoing anti-government demonstrations in the country, particularly by the Gen Z group as he believes that these demonstrations are being used as a guise by criminals to engage in looting and vandalism.

During a speech in his constituency on Monday, Waluke voiced his support for the President’s decision to halt the protests

“Cancel everything, do not give these people room to hold protests. What are protests for? Even if it is in the constitution, it can be barred because of destroying property,” Waluke said.

Waluke accused lobby groups of sponsoring protests and of failing to acknowledge the death of police officers in the protests.

“Why are they (the lobby groups) only speaking up when criminals die and not when the police die, are they not human? “Who is Gen Z?”

He urged parents to have conversations with their children, as he believes that the youth are being misled.

“It is true enough is enough… it is enough, go and talk to your children and siblings, the president wanted to talk to them and they said they are faceless but they are vandalizing and stealing”

Furthermore, Waluke expressed his desire for President William Ruto to follow the example of President Museveni of Uganda in dealing with protesters.

Protests continue today in Kenya, as the protesters plan to gain access to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The police have however beefed up security in and around the airport to intercept an unlawful entry.

Police are dispersing groups of protesters in the Nairobi CBD and the surrounding areas.

John Waluke had in 2022 been sentenced to 67 years in jail together with his co-accused Grace Wakhungu for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) of Ksh.297 million.

The MP was charged alongside Grace Wakhungu, Erad Supplies and General Contracts Limited (Erad); a company where the two are shareholders.

Waluke and Wakhungu through Erad Supplies and General Contracts Limited (Erad) owned by Wakhungu, were supposed to supply 40,000 metric tonnes of maize to NCPB in 2004 but ended up pocketing Ksh.313 million without supplying any maize.
