Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji has put local contractors on notice over shoddy work.
The MP who spoke during an inspection tour of the ongoing roads construction works projects in Manyatta Constituency, said that some local contractors are fond of delivering shoddy works and the blame shifted to local contractors who are delivering quality work.
He urged local contractors not to mess up the good names of those contractors who are delivering on their works.
Mukunji who is championing for local contractors to be awarded contracts, said that those contractors who will deliver shoddy results will be blacklisted from accessing local
“Any contractor who will be given any work to do in this county and does not deliver quality work, l will make sure they are blacklisted from accessing any contracts. Let those contractors who are delivering shoddy jobs not to mess with the names of contractors doing good jobs,” he said.
The MP who spoke after inspecting the ongoing re-carpeting of Mutunduri Kianjokoma road and the tarmacking of Kairuri Irangi road, said that the projects have faced some challenges but the contractor is up to the game to deliver quality work.
Mukunji said that the progress of the newly started tarmacking of Kairuri Irangi Mau Mau road has been slow since it has encountered challenges with water projects that are touching on the road.
He said that together with the contractor, they have agreed to engage stakeholders in water supply so that they can give them a leeway to finish on the road construction works.

Mukunji also cautioned the local contractors against low-grade jobs saying that they will face the law.
He also added that the Government is committed to finishing the on-going projects across the country.
Furthermore, he said that Kangaru Kavurukori road is 70 percent complete and residents will soon start using it.
The MP urged the contractor to not only employ the locals in Manyatta constituency but to also leave a mark in the community by engaging in some corporate social activities as they continue with the road works.
