The National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments approved all nine cabinet nominees it vetted last week.
However, National Super Alliance MP’s Wednesday afternoon staged a walkout as debate on the suitability of cabinet secretary nominees kicked off.
After the national assembly postponed the presentation of a report on vetting of the nine cabinet nominees, the National Assembly Wednesday embarked on the adopting and the approval of the cabinet nominees with the absence of the NASA MP’s, who walked out from the morning session citing non-recognizant of President Uhuru as the appointing authority.
It’s alleged that Richard Achesa, one of the cabinet nominee for the sports docket is a class seven drop out and even though there were plans against his approval, members of the house led by majority leader Aden Duale supported his approval.
The 83-page report tabled in the house witnessed no objection given that president Uhuru had summoned all jubilee MP’s to a house group meeting at state house, where members were rallied to approve all the names.
The house had quorum despite the absence of NASA MP’s since it only requires a quorum of 50 members to debate and approve the cabinet nominees.
After the national assembly adopting the report they have paved way for their swearing in which will be done on Friday, February 16.
