Leaders fault President for Omitting Mboya, Oginga & Raila names

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have requested Kenya President Uhuru Kenyata to apologize within forty eight (48) hours for not recognizing former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Cord leader Raila Odinga as heroes during yesterday’s Mashujaa Day

According to the two leaders, ODM Director of political affairs Opiyo Wandayi and Nyando MP Fred Outa, the omission was “a deliberate attempt” by the president to humiliate the leaders who they claimed played a major role in the first and second liberation in Keny.

The Duo said that  Nyanza region will not take the matter lightly.

The omission of the trio during Mashujaa day celebration was not clear with some leaders from the same region like the late Achieng Oneko being recognized as one of the leaders who gave resources and worked beyond Kenyan borders to fight for Kenya’s liberation

Siaya Senator James Orengo and Chairman of the Commission on Administrative of Justice Otiende Amollo were also recognized.

President Kenyatta had recognized the heroes in five phases and in both phases, the trio’s names went missing despite the different role they played for the nation’s liberation.

The president honored the country’s “prophets”, those who rose “against the might of the British Empire”, those who fought with the pen and inspired freedom fighters, those who gave resources and worked beyond its borders and in fifth phase, honored the Kamba hero Muindi Mbingu who was jailed for opposing the destocking policy and Kisoi Munyao who hoisted the independence flag on Mt Kenya.
