Mr. Noor Gabow Nominated as Consul General

In a move to bolster Kenya’s international relations and peacekeeping efforts, the National Assembly has nominated Mr. Noor Gabow  as the Consul General for Port-au-Prince, Republic of Haiti.

This nomination comes after an extensive assessment of Haiti’s security situation by a technical team that included Mr. Gabow.

Appearing  before the Committee of Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations, Mr .Gabow stated that the team conducted thorough due diligence, visiting police stations and evaluating security installations across the country.

Kenya’s involvement in Haiti began when the Caribbean nation sought support in enhancing its peacekeeping capabilities.

“When Haiti wrote to Kenya seeking support in peace keeping. I went to Haiti to assess as part of a technical team. We conducted due diligence visited their police stations and assessed their security installations,” Mr.Gabow said.

Under Mr. Gabow’s leadership, the National Police Service (NPS) deployed personnel who played a critical role in securing vital infrastructure, including the airport and port, and effectively clearing roadblocks.

Their collaboration with the Haitian Police has laid a strong foundation for future cooperation.

The establishment of a Kenyan mission in Haiti is expected to not only enhance support for the deployed officers but also pave the way for developing trade ties between the two nations.

“Opening a mission will enable Kenya to enhance support to the Officers to develop and eventually build trade ties with Haiti,” noted Mr.Gabow.

Mr. Gabow’s appointment as Consul General is a testament to his vast experience and dedication.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a Master’s degree in Governance, Peace, and Security Studies. He has served the country for 36 years. He started his career as OCS Parklands & worked in Sierra Leone and Liberia in peacekeeping efforts.

As he prepares to assume his new role, Mr. Gabow’s nomination was reviewed by the Committee of Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations. .
