Kitui County; 17th Jan 2018 .Mrs Edith Vethi Nyenze, widow to the Late Francis Mwanzia Nyenze trounced her competitor Mr. Maluki Mwendwa, son to Hon. Nyiva Mwendwa with a convincing 13, 388 votes against 2, 663 votes in the Wiper Democratic Movement Primaries conducted yesterday.
Announcing the results last evening, the returning officer for the nominations exercise Mr. Francis Kivindu reported that Voting was conducted in 65 polling stations, voter turnout reported at 16, 000 plus representing 31% of the 52, 000 registered voters in the constituency.
Whilst thanking God and her supporters for the landslide victory, Mrs Nyenze reminded them that the journey has just began asking that they commit to race with her for the rest of the sprint on 26th of March.
Mrs Nyenze also extended an olive branch to her worthy competitor saying time has come for the two leaders to vouch a common course of championing for the Wiper Party and ensure a massive victory in March mini election.
Her sentiments were echoed by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua who said Maluki is his personal friend and that he extends a lot of respect to the Mwendwa family thus asking for their support in the journey ahead.
