Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic and diaspora ties, following his participation in a high-level ministerial engagement with Foreign Affairs staff at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
The event, organized by the State Department for Foreign Affairs, brought together ministry officials, diplomats, and staff for an interdepartmental gathering that focused on team cohesion, service delivery and shared national objectives.
Mudavadi, who now holds one of the most senior and influential roles in the Kenya Kwanza administration, used the occasion to underscore the importance of professionalism, discipline, and a results-driven culture in Kenya’s diplomatic missions and foreign service workforce.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Mudavadi stated: “Joined colleagues from the State Department at the Ulinzi Grounds for a team-building and prayer session. I urged staff to maintain discipline, patriotism and professionalism in delivering services to the people of Kenya, both at home and abroad.”
The statement aligns with the government’s broader goals of recalibrating Kenya’s foreign policy priorities, particularly with an emphasis on diaspora engagement, international trade partnerships and diplomatic visibility.
Since taking over the Foreign Affairs docket in October 2023, Mudavadi has spearheaded initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of consular services, strengthening diplomatic missions, and repositioning Kenya as a key player on the African and global stage.
During the event, he reiterated the need for Kenya’s foreign affairs personnel to serve not just as bureaucrats but as ambassadors of Kenya’s development vision.
His address emphasized values such as integrity, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of Kenyans abroad.
The gathering also included a spiritual and motivational segment—a departure from traditional policy-heavy engagements—which highlighted the importance of team morale and internal unity among Foreign Affairs staff.
By combining formal leadership with a more human-centric approach, the event sought to cultivate a sense of shared purpose and service excellence.
